Mourn & Carla Pérez

High-voltage session with music from the Mourn four-piece and photographs by their guitarist and singer Carla Pérez. Youth and talent with one of the best-known Catalan indie rock groups around the world.

MOURN

The Catalan four-piece Mourn burst on to the scene in 2014 with their eponymous debut album, an angular slice of indie rock, with direct, sincere lyricism. A confidently delivered album by four teenagers from El Maresme. Two years later, they returned with the magnificent Ha, Ha, He, on which they showed they were worthy of highest praise, quashing any remaining doubts about the band’s musical capabilities.

Facing the kind of obstacles that might quite understandably derail the career of any emerging band, Mourn managed to keep things going and typically found a way to take the anger, frustration and passion of the last two years and turn it into music. Now, having freed themselves from their legal ties, Mourn are back in force to share their third full album: Sorpresa Família.

CARLA PÉREZ

Guitarist and singer of the group Mourn, photographer of everyday life and enthusiast for the act of painting. Her only exhibition of paintings was with her friend, the artist Albert Riera Galceran at Servicio Continuo (Barcelona, 2016). Under the title "ZOO”, they presented a set of abstract works featuring gestures, movement and harmony. With the Barcelona publisher Terranova she published a book of photographs called I Saw Three Different Moons Tonight (Barcelona, 2015) showing the photographs she took on her group’s first American tour.
