Saint George's at La Pedrera

Almost 3,500 people visited the Passeig de Gràcia courtyard on St. George’s Day, when it was opened to everyone to show that a better future is possible with Gaudí’s iconic building.

Over the course of the day, visitors who came in to see what lies behind La Pedrera were given a La Pedrera bookmark, created especially for the occasion, which demonstrated that La Pedrera is more than a building.

The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, which manages Casa Milà, wanted to make the most of St. George’s Day to draw attention to the more than 400,000 people who benefit every year from the work of the foundation, a private, independent body that allocates all the revenue raised by the activities in the building to social, environmental and cultural initiatives.

Among the various results of the foundation’s work, 2,181 elderly people enjoy an improved quality of life, 150 jobs have been created for people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion, 5,029 young people have participated in programmes to promote science, and 63,977 people have visited its 26 Natural Sites.
