Talents Jazz

The 2026 edition marks a step forward in the collaborative aspect of the project. For the first time, Talents Jazz will feature a jazz big band made up of students from the three schools, under the baton of three conductors: Irene Reig (ESMUC), Oriol Vallés (Taller de Músics) and Sergi Vergés (Conservatori del Liceu).

Ara Martí Quartet is born from the desire to revisit some of the most iconic jazz standards from an intimate, contemporary perspective. Through its own arrangements, the quartet unfolds new textures, nuances and spaces for improvisation, always keeping the essence and respect for tradition alive, turning the music into a landscape.

Mingus Reunion is a unique tribute to one of the most powerful and distinctive figures in the history of jazz: Charles Mingus. The project takes listeners on a journey through some of his compositions, combining the rhythmic power, emotional intensity and free-spirited nature that define his music.

This quartet, made up of students from the ESMUC, was formed with the aim of exploring the expressive possibilities of the piano-less quartet, a line-up that places collective interaction and musical rapport at the forefront.

Based in Amsterdam, Eclipse Group comprises Eugenia Serra (vocals), Christofer Pérez (tenor saxophone), Kai Spatzier (piano), Lluís Pérez-Villegas (drums) and Álvaro Orcajo (double bass).

The JOLAZZ Project is the result of an exchange artist residency organised by Musika Bulegoa (Basque Country) and the Taller de Músics Escola Superior d'Estudis Musicals (ESEM) (Catalonia), which fosters creative dialogue and connections between jazz scenes in different regions.
