Exhibitions

The temporary exhibition rooms are on the main floor of Casa Milà. Since their inauguration in 1992, with the show “Avantgardes in Catalonia”, the exhibitions have been a fundamental reference point that has contributed to making Casa Milà a leading cultural centre.

The exhibitions, organised by the foundation, aim to bring to the general public artists and art movements that have contribute to the cultural creation with new revolutionary ideas.

The rooms have shown the work of artists such as Dürer, Goya, Malèvitx, Ródtxenko, Kandinsky, Chagall, Dalí, Giacometti or Chillida, and subjects including Pre-Columbian art, the drawings of the Renaissance, Japanese prints, Russian icons or European photography.

Joan Ponç, Nocturn 1950

Until February 4, 2018. This exhibition, curated by the art historian and critic Pilar Parcerisas, presents a comprehensive new interpretation of the life and work of the painter Joan Ponç, from his early days in the mid-1940s and the era of the Dau al Set group to his last works in the middle of the 1980s.

Alicia Bus

Alicia Bus is a project done in association with Fundació Alicia (Food and Science), also linked to the Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation. It works as a mobile unit and includes a cookery classroom fully equipped to take to the whole territory the investigations and projects in science, health and agricultural heritage which are carried out in the laboratories of Fundació Alicia.

The project ended on july 2013. 

Casa Milà, popularly known as «La Pedrera» (the stone quarry), an ironic allusion to the resemblance of its façade to an open quarry, was constructed between 1906 and 1912 by Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926). For its uniqueness, artistic and heritage value has received major recognition and in 1984 was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List, for its exceptional universal value. Nowadays is the headquarters of Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera and houses a cultural centre that is a reference in Barcelona for the range of activities it organises and the different spaces for exhibitions and other public uses it contains.
