María Rodés & Laura Ginès

Eclíptica is the new work by Maria Rodés: a show recreating the course of a whole night with a repertoire of songs and musical passages inspired by the life and work of the astronomer Lluís Rodés. The great-great-uncle of the Barcelona singer-songwriter Maria Rodés, he was an astronomer and meteorologist, and director of the Ebre Observatory between 1920 and 1939.  In this show, the songs making up Eclíptica are combined with images by Laura Ginès.

Josep Maria Baldomà, keyboards; Santi Careta, electric guitar; Juliane Heinemann, vocals and electronics; Pep Terricabras, drums; Maria Rodés, vocals and guitar.

Maria Rodés

Maria Rodés (b. 1986) arrived on the music scene very suddenly: in 2009, she released her first album with the Oníric project, Sin técnica (Cydonia 2009), and she later began her solo career with the albums Una forma de hablar (BCore, 2010) and Sueño triangular (BCore, 2012). In 2014, this versatile artist releasedMaria Canta Copla (2014, Chesapik), a selection of Spanish popular songs presented in a unique, personal way.

Eclíptica is a work based on an ancestor linked with the worlds of spirituality and astronomy. Winner of the Puig Porret Award for the best creative musical project, Maria previewed the album at the last Vic Live Music Market in September 2017.

Laura Ginès

Laura Ginès work is heterogeneous but has a clear personal imprint. Her interest in the atmospheres and textures of images, in constructing poetic images, and in everyday themes are three threads that run through all her films and relate with one another. Some of her films are part of the Xcèntric Archive (experimental cinema at the CCCB) and have been seen at specialist centres all over the world, such as the Cinematheque in San Francisco, the New York Museum of Modern Art, and the Queen Sofía National Arts Centre Museum in Madrid.
